How to create a book template in word

To create a book template in Word using a gutter for multiple pages in metric units:

  1. Open Microsoft Word and create a new document.

  2. Go to the Page Layout tab, click on Margins and select Custom Margins.

  3. In the Page Setup dialog box, set the Left and Right margins to 2 cm. This will create the gutter in the middle of the page.

  4. Set the Top and Bottom margins to 2.54 cm.

  5. In the Gutter section, enter 1.27 cm. This will increase the space between the Left and Right margins to make room for the binding.

  6. Change the measurement units to centimeters by going to File > Options > Advanced. Scroll down to the Display section, and under Show measurements in units of, select Centimeters.

  7. Click on OK to apply the changes.

  8. To add text to your template, click in the Left margin and start typing.

  9. To create multiple pages, click on the Page Break button in the Pages group on the Insert tab.

  10. Repeat the process of adding text and creating new pages as needed.

  11. To format the text, use the tools in the Home tab, such as font size, bold, italic, and color.

  12. Save your template by clicking on File > Save As and choosing Word Template in the Save As Type drop-down menu.

To set a header and footer in Word:

  1. Open the Microsoft Word document you want to add a header and footer to.

  2. Go to the Insert tab, and then click on the Page Number option.

  3. Choose a page number format, such as plain number or Roman numerals, and then click on the desired location (top of page or bottom of page).

  4. The page number will be added to the header or footer.

  5. To add text to the header or footer, double-click in the header or footer area.

  6. Type the text you want to add, such as the document title or the author's name.

  7. To format the text, use the tools in the Home tab, such as font size, bold, italic, and color.

  8. To set different headers or footers for different sections of the document, go to the Page Layout tab, and then click on the Breaks option.

  9. Choose Next Page under the Section Breaks section, and then repeat the process of adding a header or footer.

  10. To remove a header or footer, double-click in the header or footer area, and then click on the Delete key on your keyboard.
